Source-first factual claims
Published cost figures should trace to the source links shown on the relevant guide, calculator or cost-index page. RepairGauge does not treat a language model, search snippet or unsourced web summary as a factual authority. Where reliable sources disagree, the page explains the planning range or uses the documented composite method instead of inventing precision.
How automation and generative AI are used
Software automation and generative AI may assist with topic research, outlining, drafting, editing, structured-data preparation, internal-link suggestions and quality checks. They are production tools, not sources of truth. AI-generated numbers, contractor claims or local-price assumptions are not accepted merely because a model produced them.
It helps organize a large amount of repair-cost information consistently. The value RepairGauge adds should come from traceable sources, transparent calculations, quote-comparison tools, limitations and useful structure—not from producing the largest possible number of pages.
Human editorial review
RepairGauge's publication standard requires substantive AI-assisted content to receive a separate human check before it is described as human reviewed. That check covers visible factual claims, the page title and meta description, structured data, source links and meaningful image alt text. Source-check dates are deliberately labeled as source checks and are not a substitute for a documented human review.
High-impact topics such as structural problems, contaminated water, mold and major repair decisions are presented as planning information. RepairGauge does not diagnose the building or tell a homeowner which engineering or remediation method is safe for a specific property.
Freshness and dates
A date is updated only when the underlying page or source set materially changes. A source-check date means the cited references were checked for the figures being used. It does not mean every contractor price in every U.S. market has been independently verified.
Commercial independence
RepairGauge may receive compensation after a homeowner approves an introduction to a service provider. Compensation does not change calculator output, source selection, cost ranges or editorial conclusions.
Corrections
If a factual claim, source, price range, metadata field or structured-data value is wrong or stale, RepairGauge aims to correct it. Send the affected URL, the specific issue and any supporting source to contact@repairgauge.com.
Evidence wins. A documented current source takes priority over an older RepairGauge statement, regardless of whether the correction comes from a contractor, reader or commercial partner.
